Krettek Separation horizontal peeler centrifuge: More process-equipment than dewatering device. Six step course of excellence, STEP 2 Extractions
During Step 1 we provided you with information on the performance-factor of heel cake regeneration and optimized heel cake removal
The Krettek Separation ProCent® Turbo-series is not only best in class peeler-centrifuge for solids-liquids separation: The unique Krettek backflushing rotor as the key element in a complete system offers much more than just centrifugal filtration of finest particles with maximum results at minimum effort.
The special design and various options allow complete process steps inside the equipment, without additional external vessels, components, … such as:
- Heel cake regeneration (News on 2021/04/07)
- Extractions (News on 2021/05/14)
- Counter current washing (News on 2021/05/21)
- Resuspending and dissolving (News on 2021/05/28)
- Solvent displacement (News on 2021/06/04)

Today’s topic: Extractions:
Extraction as well as extraction washing are steps which are in this perfectness only possible in Krettek backflushing rotor centrifuges. Wherever a solid product suspended in slurry needs not only mother liquids removal but also extraction of certain chemical components, the Krettek technology provides a one unit-multi-step solution.
The unbeaten high g-forces in combination with the wide choice of filter media generates in first step the maximum possible dewatering. In a second step, an extraction agent / solvent is fed to the machine either from backflushing feeding or via feed spray nozzles (combinations are possible). Since at the same time the filtrate skimmer device is in home-position the cake can be wettened with the extraction solvent for a freely adjustable contact time, while keeping the g-force at a useful level.
Where necessary the solvent can also be feed continuously via the backflushing pipe and skimmed off by the overflow-skimming device. Again, the freely adjustable g-force gives the possibility of overflow skimming clear solvent and – if required- recirculate via the backflushing chamber to enhance concentration of extracts. At the end, the dry-spinning at market-maximum speed results in driest possible solids and maximum concentrated extracts.
Since all those steps are set once and controlled automatically from the PLC, the system can be freely optimized for each individual extraction.
